About Me

My Background
Hello, I’m Isaac Ayala Alkire! I’m a senior at California State University, Fullerton, and am finishing the last semester of my sociology program. This blog will explore my personal experiences with sexual assault as well as how theories of criminology can be used to explain why my assault happened and the stigma that was attached to my experience. What interested me in this subject matter is the fact that sexual assault is rarely talked about enough when a male is the victim. There also seems to be a different level of stigmatization and victimology when a man speaks out about sexual assault. Regardless of gender identity, sexual assault is a traumatic experience for any individual to face. Severe psychological consequences such as depression, anxiety, and/or PTSD can arise from situations like these. The goal of my blog is to share the experiences that reshaped by perceptions of sexual assault and to introduce sociological theory to explain why crimes like these occur and how these crimes influence the way society views victims. I aim to share my ongoing healing journey with weekly posts that can help educate and reshape your views of sexual assault as well. Thank you for taking this journey with me.
